  • Do you have an online tutorial for uploading web pages to the secure server?
No, any file can be accessed through the secure server. There is no special space to place your files. Any page you would like to be displayed through the secure server needs only to be uploaded to your site as a normal file.

  • I've uploaded my secure pages, how do I access them?
To link to your pages through the secure server you must use the https protocol. This simply means your link must start with https (note the 's'). The second portion of the link must reference the secure server which your pages are on.

For example; if your pages are on the secure.servername.com server then your link would begin with:
    https://secure.servername.com/

The third portion of the link will be the directory (your domain name) that the secure pages reside in, without the top level suffix (.com, .net, .org, etc.):
    https://secure.servername.com/~username/

The forth and final portion is the page name:
    https://secure.servername.com/~username/pagename.html

  • How do I run scripts on the secure server?
Any scripts you wish to run secure MUST be in your cgi-bin directory. This is the only directory that will allow secure scripts to run. Use the following instructions to create your link:

Assuming your domain is on the secure.servername.com server the beginning portion of your link will remain the same:
    https://secure.servername.com/

Following this is your domain name without the top level suffix:
    https://secure.servername.com/~username/

Next, you must link into the cgi-bin directory :
    https://secure.servername.com/~username/cgi-bin/

    Finally, the script name:
    https://secure.servername.com/~username/cgi-bin/script.pl

  • After accessing a secure page ALL of my pages are being displayed secure. Why?
Though you may not think this is not so bad, it is. Secure server access is about 5 times slower than normal http access. For this reason you don't want to needlessly display secure pages. To leave the secure server link to a page using the normal http protocol. For example, after placing an order give your visitors a link back to your home page by specifying the full URL (i.e. http:www.domain-name.com)

  • Can I access my secure pages as https://www.mydomain.com/?
Only if you obtain your own secure certificate. Certificates may be obtained from Geotrust, Thawte, or any other authorized CA (Certifying Authority). If you would like us to obtain and install the SSL certificate contact our Helpdesk for current pricing information.
