What's the catch? Where's the hidden costs?
We chuckle when we hear this. There is no catch and there are no hidden
costs. We do not have a setup fee and our hosting plans have a low monthly fee. We offer one
month free with all annual accounts. Most items are included in our web hosting packages, with
very few exceptions, for no additional fees. Some items, like chat rooms, are not include
but this is usually because it is banned from our servers. You may refer

I have seen cheaper hosting companies, why do you charge more?
Basically, as the saying goes .. you get what you pay for. Companies that offer very cheap web
hosting services usually put THOUSANDS of web sites on ONE server. Overloading a server is not
healthy for the server, in fact it causes problems, but it is necessary for these companies to
make a profit. Not to mention, what kind of support can you expect for only $2.00 a month.
What do I need before I can have a web site at MattCas Communications?
Since MattCas Communications deals with all the technical issues of setting up your server space initially,
you need to do very little. All you need to have is Internet access from either a local provider or a national online service
(such as AOL, Compuserve, etc.), and a domain name.
Can I get a domain name like: anyname.domain.com?
Yes, this is called a sub-domain. If you have an existing domain name that is hosted with us then
creating a subdomain is a simple procedure. You can create anyname.yourdomain.com simply using your online
control panel that is included with your hosting account. The advantage of sub-domains is that registering
an additional domain name is not needed.
How do I transfer an existing web site to your servers?
If you already have an existing web site, it needs to be redirected to our servers. To start the redirect, you have to log into your domain
name management console (or ask whoever registered your domain name to do this), and modify the name servers (also known as DNS)
for your domain name. Our name servers (DNS) for your hosting account will be included in the welcome email you will receive after
signing up for a hosting account.
Be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain.
You should keep the service with your current provider while waiting for
your domain name propagation to complete the transfer process. We will provide you with an
IP address so you can upload the site on our server. All email
and web pages will still be accessed from your current site. There may be a 72 hour propagation
period where visitors could go to either site. At the end of the 72 hours
you should contact your previous host to have them delete the old domain
from their records and update their DNS record. If you use this same
provider for your Internet access you will not be able to access your
domain site until they update their DNS.
What is all this hype about unlimited hits?
We don't know, we didn't invent it. Advertising for unlimited hits is
simply a marketing ploy. "Hits" on a domain are the number of requests made
for any file on that domain. If you have placed 20 graphics on your home
page, every time one visitor goes to your home page, your server will take
21 hits (20 graphics plus the home page). The first time a visitor goes to
your site, all 21 files would be transferred over the Internet to your
visitors PC. If that same visitor came back to your home page the following
day, it is most likely that no files would be transferred but your server
would still take 21 hits. This is because your visitors browser would store
the original files on disk locally. When the visitor returns the second day,
the browser makes a request to the server for the files. The server responds
that the files are unmodified since the last visit and does not transfer
the files again.
Aren't hits and transfer (bandwidth) the same?
The marketing gurus would have you believe, but they are by no means even
remotely similar. For a simple explanation of hits refer to the question
above. Your transfer amount is the amount of data that is actually
transferred off the server to the surfer's browser. Generally speaking,
depending on how a particular browser is set up, the server will transfer
the files only once. If a surfer came to your page 30 times in one day, your
files would only be transferred once.
What is a virtual domain?
A virtual domain is your own domain name (http://www.yourname.com). Domain
names are being taken at a rate of approximately 10,000 per day. If there
is a particular domain name that you would like to have for your web site,
you must check to see if the name is available. If your name is available
you should register it immediately. Names are given on a first come first
serve basis.
Do you provide an online control panel?
Yes. An online control panel is included with every domain. Our control panel allows you to
easily setup new users, email accounts, aliases, mailing lists, modify passwords, and much more.
Every user of your domain also has a personal login to modify email forwarding, auto-responders,

Can I use my account for commercial purposes?
Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The Web has become
the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available
to the users of the Internet community and we encourage our customers to
utilize such an enormous medium.
Can I access my domain with and without the "www"?
Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the
"www" in front of the domain name. http://www.yourname.com or
http://yourname.com is acceptable, whichever you prefer.

How do I transfer files to my web site?
Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol
(FTP) or Telnet. You may download WS_FTP

Do you host international domain names?
Yes. We have the capability of hosting all domains of any country specific top level suffix.

Discounts are available for Non Profit organizations that can prove their tax exempt status.
